House Muschamp
A little bit over a 100 years ago a (master) stone mason built his own house in Christchurch, New Zealand.
In size it's a modest house but the house is beautifully detailed in Oamaru stone. Where as most buildings worked on became icons, this little house was more or less forgotten.
The house is a solid stone built and luckily over the years no large alterations were done to it.
However there's been some serious lack of maintenance in recent decades.
The 2010 / 2011 the Christchurch Earthquakes damaged the house but didn't destroy it.
Damage being difficult to assess and with the property sitting at the edge of the Red zone, the house became prone to real estate speculation.
Although in the process of being listed as an Heritage building the house was sold without conditions.
Once word came around that the house was going to be demolished, Dutch Engineer and Architect Gaby van den Boom offered the new owners to remove the house for them for free.
Deconstruction started on 15 January 2016 and the idea is to rebuild the house somewhere save.
